Goat Dairy Farms' Popularity on the Rise

Goat farming is taking a step up to the plate and more goat dairy farms are growing in popularity. Goats are a social animal and are friendlier then cows are so the goat farmers tend to grow a friendship with their goats making them more enjoyable to be around. Goats have more personality and they are easier to manage. Goats are hardier then cows and need less medicines to keep them healthy. Goats are not exactly butting heads with cows for milk production supremacy but they are making a name for themselves in the upper Midwest. Cows weigh an average of about l500 pounds and a goat can weigh less then 225. If a cow steps on your foot or bumps into you it can do some damage but a goat probably weighs less then you do so they are not as hard to handle. Therefore you have less injuries and less to worry about get yourself hurt. goats tend to be gentle animals that are respectful to there owners.
Milk products from goats is becoming more in demand these days with people feeling that goat milk products are better for you then dairy products from cows. People are willing to pay more for goat products because of the health issue. The dairy goat industry is not in the market to challenge the dairy cow industry it wants an industry of it's own. Goat dairies are different then cow dairies and there is room for both in this world.
Goat cheese is a big hit these days and cheese makers are having fun making new kinds of cheese from goat milk. They have made spreadable cheese from milk that is delicious on crackers and there is a white goat cheese that is good for pizza. Cheese makers have also blended cow and goat milk together to make a cheese that is made from both kinds of dairy products.
Goat milk is popular with people who have allergies to cow milk products. Goat milk is a big hit for people who have digestive disorders since human digestive systems tend to be able to digest goat milk better then cow milk.
Goats eat a lot less then a cow does. A farmer can feed about fifteen to twenty goats on the amount of food it take to feed just one cow. But it takes about ten goats to make as much milk as a single cow can in a day.
