Recently, in the month of November, reports were made about the Pope expressing love for Muslims, Mohammad and even for the god they know to be Allah. He desires that all religions come together to help mankind and for us to find peace with one another. This was an attempt to mend any anger derived from a previous speech made about Mohammad, calling him inhumane and evil.

The most influential person that reflects 'Christianity' now wants to bring peace and unity with people who consider Christians to be infidels, some say. This is truly amazing. Will all Christians allow the Pope to represent Christianity, on their behalf? Some may believe that this event wasn't a bit surprising. Are we headed toward a One World Religion.

While in Turkey Pope Benedict even visited a Muslim Mosque. This is only the second time when a Pope has visited a mosque. The first time was when Pope John Paul II visited while on a trip to Damascus. Along side of the Mufti of Istanbul and the Imam of the Blue Mosque, the Pope closed his eyes and prayed in silence for two minutes. What does the Christian world think about this? According to the Holy Bible, God is Jehovah. To the contrary, according to the Qua-ran, God is Allah. If this is true, why would a Christian Religious Leader bow to another god? That is one question that needs an answer. Perhaps we all will know in the near future.

I hadn't heard of this story. I didn't know he admitted it. I'm not Catholic, so I don't see the pope as anything but some religious leader and my faith is completely in Christ Jesus.

He bowed to Mecca........... Mecca is an Islamic god

In English, the word for God is "God." In Spanish, the word for God is "Dios." In Latin, it's "Dei." In German it's "Gott." Jesus himself called God the Father "Abba." . . . In Arabic, the word is "Allah." The Pope simply was referring to God in his audience's native tongue.

... Since that cut off my last argument I'll continue it... Just because we honor the Pope as Christ's representative and the visible head of His Church does not equate worship. We could say that Protestants worship the Bible since they have made the Bible the center of their faith- since they love it and sing its praises and give it the place of prominence in their churches (rather than Jesus Christ). Do you honor your father? Are you worshiping him? Of course not. The Pope is vastly important because he is our link to the Apostles, the Apostles who spread and taught the Catholic Faith, the only form of Christianity and the from which your ancestors were part of (unless they were eastern schismatics or heretics or you are not Europeans) till the Protestant rebellion in the 1500s.

Its funny to me to see Evangelical Protestants trying to flex their intellectual muscles as if their heresy had any root in intelligence whatsoever. Obviously the Pope wasn't praying to Allah. He was closing his eyes and being respectful whilst the Muslim prayed. Where did he ever say that he prayed? No where. Even if he did pray, why does he have to be praying to Allah? He would obviously pray to Our Lord Jesus Christ. Rebellious children- your ancestors hundreds of years back would be weeping to see you like this considering that they were none but of the Catholic Religion- the Church that Jesus Christ established when He said to Peter: "You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (Matt. 16:13). We worship the Pope huh? Who gave you that hair-brain

Wow, you said that right and that is very true. Mother against daughter. Father against son... It's here. We have to forsake all in a sense, even our family, if it means salvation. Like me, I was raised Catholic. My Dad is still Catholic. He has visited my church and get this... he told me to stay there. Glad he agrees :) Yes the New Age Movement has blinded people and moved them to and frow. That is why we MUST be rooted and grounded in CHRIST!

Thank you, Katy, for this. Yes, I too was fooled going thru my "New Age" phase into the false belief that the God of the Holy Bible = Allah = all roads lead to heaven. No longer. Cut to the gist of any religion by asking the person whether or not Jesus is their Messiah and if they believe John 14:6 where Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Yes, Jesus gave the highest command to love, but he didn't command Christians to "make nice" for the sake of getting along. Luke 12:51: "Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you. I have come to separate people."

Charlotte, I was Catholic and in doing this, it seems he is not rooted and grounded in his faith. Personally I believe this was done because of fear. Surely he would never pray to another god because he loves and worships them. Maybe he really feels like some here, that they are the same god? If that is the case, I see what the Book of Revelation talks about.... One World Religion, then Armaggedon and the false prophet (wonder who this is??) and the antiChrist himself. Really think about it.

Hmmmmmmmmm, food for thought. Personally, I think the pope praying to Allah is a slap in the face to his own religion. If he holds it in such low esteem, how can he expect others to hold it higher? But then, I'm not catholic so what do I know?

Oh I am feeling ya. I totally agree. I was raised Catholic and any person who truely loves Christ can see that kissing the ring of a man is simply obsurd. Yes he is a man and like another said has exhalted himself as a god. Kinda like satan did before he fell ... hmmm...

Thanks, Katy. I just get annoyed with how the Pope is inappropriately revered as something he is not. He is just a man. And I get annoyed also by the fact that the world thinks he has something to do with Christianity. Catholicism and Christianity are two very different things.

Kinda reminds me of Peter when he denied Christ. Fear, maybe? In any event, to go as far as to PRAY to another god, hmm kinda crosses the line in my opinion. I have a good friend who is Muslim. He knows where I stand and I love him with a Christ-like love. I would never step as far as agreeing with his faith and praying to his god. Thanks AJ for your comments.

Has anyone noticed that the Pope seems to be almost held hostage by Muslim extremists? - Would you ever see their leaders giving kudos to Jesus?

Posted on 01/02/2007 at 4:01:00 PM

Sharon and one of the names of GOD is Jesus Christ. Does Islam believe that? No they do not. So that is counterdictary to Biblical facts. Superdork... thanks for your comments. I care about the Pope. I pray for his salvation. The 'world' looks at him as the leader for Christianity, whether we do personally or not.
