Prenatal yoga classes offer women in Central Massachusetts a way to gently move, exercise, learn breathing techniques, and relax their minds and their bodies.

Yoga can also benefit the postnatal woman. After giving birth women are often anxious to get their pre-pregnancy bodies and flexibility back. With the approval of a doctor or health care professional, women can return to exercise. Yoga is one such exercise that works for postnatal women because it is a gentle form of exercise.

Yoga studios offer a variety of prenatal and even postnatal classes for women. Mommy & Me Yoga classes offer women and their new babies a way to bond and exercise outside the home, while meeting and spending time with other moms and babies.

Auburn Yoga & Pilates Center

Classes are six-week sessions and pre-registration is required.
The Auburn Yoga & Pilates Center offers a gentle Hatha Yoga class for postpartum women. Postpartum women are encouraged to bring their newborns along, but it is not required. You may take your new baby to one or two classes, or all of them, it all depends on you and the baby. The class helps loosen tightness in the abdominal area, the upper back and the shoulders.

For a little something different, this yoga studio also teaches a Mommy & Me Pilates for new mothers and their little ones. The class teaches the basics of pilates, with a focus on "core strength," which means your midsection including your back and abdominal area.
