Let's face it just about all women love when someone throws them a baby shower. But what many well meaning friends fail to realize is how quickly the amount of money you spend can skyrocket. There are several ways to make sure that you don't go overboard on your friends baby shower. The first thing to keep in mind is that the mother to be does not need to have every large item on her baby registry. Some friends feel obligated to purchase everything off of the baby registry in order to make the baby shower a success. Just purchase the items that they really need to care for the baby. Remember your other guests who are invited to the baby shower will purchase the nonessential cute items. Next is usually the venue of the baby shower. This should also be kept simple. You first need to take into consideration how many people you will be inviting, and who else will be contributing to that cost. Some of us tend to go way overboard renting the most expensive restaurant or hall and fail to think about what the final bill will be.

Yet another suggestion is to avoid trying to be like a celebrity, unless of course your budget can afford it. There have been so many women in Hollywood having babies recently that many of us are eager to have similar baby showers. But there is such a thing as overdoing it a bit, especially if you can end up going broke. Of course if you can afford to go overboard for a friend then that is your choice. One last suggestion is to try and keep the menu simple. You don't have to have every type of food imaginable. Just have what the mom likes and what fits her style. If you really want to splurge on one or two items there is definitely nothing wrong with that. The main point is that sometimes when you go overboard and do too much it can really take away the fun from the occasion, even for your guest of honor.
