Here are instructions for making two different Valentine's Day mobiles...

Valentine's Day Spiral Mobile
This is a fun Valentine's Day craft decoration that hangs. If you put it near an air vent, it'll turn on it's own. You can add a few jingle bells to make this a musical mobile.

Supplies:
Paperboard (tip: use an empty cereal box)
Construction paper in holiday colors
Scissors
Yarn or String
pen or pencil to mark cutting lines
Optional: Craft paint
Optional: Small jingle bells

Step 1 ~
Open up your cereal box, and lay it flat. Draw the biggest circle you can without going off the edges. If you can borrow a dinner plate, or something similar, to trace around, it will help you make a better circle.

Step 2 ~
Draw a spiral starting at the outer edge and curling inward. It'll probably go about 3 or 4 times round. Leave an uncut area in the center about two inches, so that you'll have somewhere stable to tie it later. Look at the picture with this article to see what your spiral should look similar to.

Step 3 ~
Cut on your spiral line. When you're finished, it will make a coil shape.

Step 4 ~
If you'd like, you can use the craft paint to paint your coil in holiday colors. You will need to do one side at a time and wait for it to dry before going to the next step.

Step 5 ~
Cut a length of your yarn or string, and tie it to that 2-inch uncut area that you left in the center. This what you will use to hang your mobile when you're finished.

Step 6 ~
Use your scissors and construction paper to cut up hearts, or other shapes. These will be the dangly parts of the mobile, so don't make then too big; about 2-3 inches at most fits well.

Step 7 ~
Cut lengths of your yarn or string that are about 3 or 4 inches long. Tie each of your cut-outs to your coil, spacing then a few inches apart so that they don't get tangled.

Step 8 ~
If you'd like, you can tie some jingle bells to your mobile as well. Then, when it turns in the wind, it will make music!

Valentine's Day Dangling Mobile
This is another fun Valentine's Day craft decoration that hangs. It goes together quickly, so you can make a bunch of then and decorate a whole room if you're having a Valentine's Day party.

Two new craft ideas, I really think the kids will like the spiral mobile. I can't wait for them to come over so we can try it.
