Here are instructions for making a Valentine's Heart Caterpillar and a Valentine's Heart Butterfly. Both are made from a series of cut out paper hearts in different sizes.

Heart Caterpillar
This is a really cute Valentine's Day craft decoration that's easy to do.

Supplies:
Construction paper in holiday colors
Scissors
Glue or glue stick
A bit if pipe cleaner for the antennas
Craft pens

Step 1 ~
Using your scissors and construction paper, cut of the heart shapes for this project. You'll need them in three sizes. Two very small ones for tips of the antennas, one large one for the head, and at least half a dozen for the body in a medium size. You can alternate between two or three colors for the body one, to make it look like your caterpillar has stripes.

Step 2 ~
Take the first medium heart cut-out and lay it upside-down on your work surface, (pointy end up). Lay the next medium heart cut-out (also pointy end up), slightly overlapping the first one, and glue it in place.

Step 3 ~
You're building your caterpillar from the tail-end up, so keep adding medium-size hearts until your caterpillar is as long as you want it to be. Glue them in place as you go.

Step 4 ~
When your caterpillar's body is as long as you like, it's time to add the head. This will be the largest heart cut-out, and you place it right side up slightly overlapping the last body heart. Glue it in place.

Step 5 ~
Cut two short lengths of pipe cleaner to be the antennae. Glue one to each side of your caterpillar's head.

Step 6 ~
Find your two smallest heart cut-outs. Glue one of them to the top end of each of the antennae.

Step 7 ~
Use the craft pens to give your caterpillar a face!

Heart Butterfly
Now that you have a caterpillar, you'll need a butterfly to go with him! Here are easy instructions to make one.

Supplies:
Construction paper in holiday colors
Scissors
Glue or glue stick
A bit if pipe cleaner for the antennas
Craft pens
