Things to Do in and Around Boone, North Carolina

So the holidays are behind you, the presents have all been put away, and you're looking for something to do! Why not head to the western mountains of North Carolina for some fresh air and relaxation? Whether you are a shopper, skiier, nature lover, or anything in between, you will find something fascinating in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and specifically, the town of Boone!

Boone, North Carolina is a wonderful place to visit. Home of Appalachian State University, cool weather, and full of life! During the school year, this town is bustling with students everywhere! During the summers, the atmosphere simmers a bit as tourists come in, and many wonderful folks from Florida head North to their summer mountain homes in the Boone area, to escape the Florida heat.

Do you like to ski? Well, you're in luck! Within a 30 minute radius of Boone, you have Appalachian Ski Mountain, Ski Hawksnest, (great for snowboarders), and wonderful Beech and Sugar Ski Mountains. When the weather doesn't cooperate, snow making machines kick in to insure that you have the time of your life and a fun filled day!

Do you enjoy restaurants? Boone and its vicinity has so much to offer. There is typical fast food fare, such as Taco Bell and Wendy's, Subway, McDonald's, and Quiznos. For more unique restaurants that you can only find in this area, try the Boone Bagelry, Black Cat Burritos, and Our Daily Bread. All three of these are located in downtown Boone. If you like tasty Barbeque, southern hospitality, and great music, then you must visit The Woodlands in Blowing Rock. It has a huge fan base, and with good reason! Try it and see!
