It can be quite an undertaking to find or create the right type of support group for your family. Once you have done so, you may find yourself strongly desiring to stay within your own group. After all, this group does everything that you need it to do and is everything that you need it to be. However, there are numerous great reasons why you should reach out and connect with other homeschoolers. The main reason is that there is a strong need of tolerance and appreciation for who we are as homeschoolers and a special bond holds us together.

Fostering communication and connections amongst different homeschoolers makes it easier to work together in order to share in activities together. Each effort that is made here shows the desire to forge bonds amongst homeschoolers. Plus knowing what each group is about, how they function and what their membership criteria is will help you to direct new homeschoolers to the group that will work best for them. There are many different ways in which you can find out what groups are out there and what they are all about. Some ideas include:

1. Support group leaders can gather together to create brochures that can be distributed throughout your area where homeschoolers can easily find them. In this way, homeschoolers can find a group that matches their needs and interests to hook up with.

2. Support groups' newsletter editors can form an email list. Herein they can share information about various activities, field trips and other such activities. This will help people to find the activities that they are most interested in without having to subscribe to several different newsletters since the editors are all working together to share the information with their groups.
