DIY Project : How to Make a Folding Screen that Holds Photographs
Easy DIY Project
This simple photo display folding screen is a great way to display photos in your home. Photos are always a great way to personalize a space. I love this simple photograph folding screen project because it stands all on its own. If you are renting you won't have to worry about makingTo Make This Simple Photo Display Folding Screen You Will Need:
3 sheets of plywood cut to the same size
Two piano hinges
Primer
Sand Paper
Paint
Roller brushes
Paint trays
Drop cloth
Power drill
Plexi glass
Screws
Washers
Now, the first step to making this simple photo display folding screen is to buy your Plexiglas. You want to purchase these first because you can make this simple home décor project a lot easier if you base the size of your folding screen around the size of your plexiglass pieces. You can have them cut to 8X10 inches, 5X7 inches and almost any size at the local home improvement store.
Go ahead and drill a hole in the corner of each piece of plexi glass. Make as many pieces as you want to display photos.
Now, go ahead and give your three pieces of plywood a light sanding. You could also use sheets of MDF, which would need no sanding.
Now, once the primer dries paint them out in any paint color you would like. I recommend painting the folding screen to match the existing trim in the room you will be displaying it. It will tie in nicely with your existing home décor this way.
Now, once your paint has dried you can go ahead and install the hinges. I like to install the hinges before the plexiglas on this folding screen because then you do not have to worry about scratching them.
You want to install the hinges so that they open in the opposite directions from each other. This will allow you folding photo display screen to stand up in a stable way. Simple place you hinges in place. Mark the holes with pencil, and then pre drill them with your power drill. Now you can easily screw them in place without breaking a sweat.
Now, open the folding screen up and lay it flat on its back. Take your photos and lay them in place. Now, top them off with the plexiglass.
