Personalized stationary is a great craft for kids. They can make their own stationary using the initials. Best of all they can use their personalized stationary to write their Grandparents, friends, and even Mom and Dad on. This kid friendly craft also makes a great gift that kids can make and give to anyone form their teacher to their grandparents. This simple stationary is made completely of materials almost everyone I know has laying around the house. Even if you end up buying any of the items you need to make this simple stationary, you could not spend more than $5 for all the kids combined!
To Make This Easy and Free Monogrammed Stationary Kids Can Make You Will Need:
Brown Paper Grocery Bags or Any Clean Paper You Have around the house
Glue or Tape (whatever you have)
Scissors
Ruler
Potatoes or Sponge
Paint, Ink, or Wood Stain (any kind that you have)
Knife
Ok, the first step is to have the kids cut out the stationary form the brown paper bags. I like to use the inside of the bag, because the outside will often have writing on it.
You can easily get 2 sheets so stationary that are 8X10 inches. You could also make them 5X7 to get more sheets out of each brown paper bag.
Now, to cut out the envelopes you need to fold one sheet of your stationary as you would if it were about to be inserted in to the envelope. Cut out a piece of brown grocery paper bag that is one inch wider than the stationary, but three times as tall.
Lay the folded up stationary on the middle of the flat envelope paper. Fold up the bottom of the paper until it covers the folded stationary. Now, use glue or a glue stick to un a bead of glue on either side and glue this down, leaving the top open like a regular envelop.
Now, fold the remaining top part down. Open is again and ct it into a point, just like an envelope.
Repeat this process making one envelope to go with each sheet of stationary the kids make.
Now, to decorate the monogrammed station your can cut it out with pinking sheers or plain scissors. You could also use a thin paintbrush dipped in water and run along the edge. Pull off the wet paper to create a rough edge. Let this dry.
