If you live near Dallas, Texas and you are trying to decide on a romantic weekend escape for you and that special someone, you could do no better than the Chaska House Bed and Breakfast in Waxahachie, Texas. Located in the heart of the North Texas Prairies and Lakes region, Waxahachie is located an easy 25 mile drive from Dallas along Interstate 35 South.

The Chaska house is famous for its historic, luxury guest cottages. Built in 1900, The Chaska house is touted by Texas Highways Magazine as a "Victorian Splendor," due to its wonderful, original architecture and master craftsmanship. The interior design of the guest cottages sport opulent fabrics of rich colors, pedigreed antiques and fine art. Combine all of this with state of the art technology and you have an atmosphere of the best of the old and the new. Each uniquely-decorated guest rooms is named and styled after famous authors. There is Hemingway's Retreat, which is nestled behind bamboo hedges overlooking a tropical courtyard and fashioned after Ernest Hemingway's Key West home. This unique cottage is self-sufficient, with a large living/dining room and galley kitchen, antiques, hardwood floors, a stereo sound system with a TV and VCR.

Then there is the Margaret Mitchell Room, where you can experience the gentle ambiance of an antebellum home simiiar to the classic Gone With the Wind. The Margaret Mitchell Room has a queen-sized canopy bed that came from a plantation in Alabama. There is a big bath with an extra-length soaking tub. Scarlett would be proud.
