As Valentine's Day approaches and candy hearts with loving statements litter grocery stores around the nation, people of The United States are doing...absolutely nothing. In fact, according to Hallmark Research, nearly 60% of all Valentine's Day cards are purchased only 6 days prior to the holiday. The day of love may be the unofficial day of procrastination.

All jokes aside, for now, Valentine's Day is one of the most celebrated non-biblical holidays. If there is one day out of the year to step your game up, whether it be convincing your significant other to bathe in chocolate together or erase all you've done wrong recently with a lollipop and a love note, this is your day. Carpe Diem! Take your pride and throw it aside on the 15th. Write the most creative short story romance in Valentine's Day history (according to you). Walk with a confidence you've never before felt, armed with your weapon of love (The Valentine) make haste toward your amore. There he/she is, off in the distance. Your palms start to sweat and your internal checklist emerges. Zipper up? Check. Body odor? Double check. Getting the one you adore to smile...priceless. Smile? Oh crap you had broccoli soup for lunch! ABORT! You duck into a doorway. Check your teeth in the window. All clear. You spring from the doorway like P. Diddy at the Grammy's. There he/she at their desk. Ten feet and closing. They turn their head to answer a phone call and you decide this is your only opportunity. You drop the card and disappear! You, my friend, are what I like to call, The Valentine Phantom. Part of the mysterious phenomenon that haunts Valentine's Day leaving cards signed, " Secret Admirer," to unsuspecting victims. Do not be ashamed, there are many of you in existence. I myself am guilty of this feat. We are only a small percentage of the 192 million cards exchanged during this holiday of love. Valentine's Day happens to be the second most popular greeting card giving occasion.
