The Lamborghini Diablo was produced from 1990 - 2000 having several variations throughout the years. The Diablo followed the Lamborghini Countach series, which was hard to accomplish, but the company achieved their goal with the Diablo being a high performance supercar with its trademark upswing doors. Lamborghini produced around 3000 models of the car in the 11 years it was manufactured. Diablo actually means devil in Spanish even though it was named by Lamborghini to honor the bull not the devil.

The Diablo was in development in 1989 to replace the legendary Countach model. The power is generated by a 5.7 liter 48 valve version which is similar to Lamborghini's own V12 as it had dual overhead cams and multi point fuel injection that was computer controlled. The engine produced 492 horsepower and 427 foot-pounds of torque. The Diablo could go from 0-60 in just over 4 seconds. The speed of the Diablo was topped at 202 mph. The Diablo was all wheel drive and to aid its weight in balance the engine was mid-mounted.

In 1993 the people at Lamborghini had finished with minor adjustments to the Diablo and made another version of the car to attract new customers. It still had the Diablo name and body type, with the upswing doors, but they added several things. One was a coupling type all-wheel drive system. Others were an upgrade to the power steering system, front wheel resizing, and newer tires that could deal with the changes made by the all-wheel driving system, four-piston Brembo brake calipers, an improved, as technology improved, computerized suspension system that had Koni shock absorbers. The newer suspension system that was installed in the Diablo could be left in the auto mode and then the computer controlled it all. Lamborghini also made improvements in the design of the dashboard.
