Christmas Bulletin Boards for the Classroom

Holiday Decorating that Promotes Learning

As a teacher, you know how important it is to create festive and appealing Christmas bulletin boards in your room during the Christmas holidays; but the few short weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are packed with activities and don't leave a lot
of time for decorating. These bulletin board ideas are easy to make and most involve children in the process. For the early grades, handprints, snowflakes, and paper chains can be worked on at center time. For older children, they make a great filler for when you have an extra few minutes between activities.

Hand Print Christmas Tree

This handprint Christmas tree is the result of student made handprints cut from green construction paper and assembled to make a large Christmas tree. Not only does it save you the work of designing a bulletin board, it provides children with the opportunity to do the decorating. This quick and easy bulletin board will keep kids involved and maybe even develop cooperation skills along the way.

Christmas Cookies Bulletin Board

Let your class cut loose by making a big batch of paper cookies for a bulletin board called "From Our Bright Batch of Cookies". Each cookie has been hand decorated with paint and real sprinkles to create a delightful array of Christmas cookies. Easy to adapt to math activities like sorting or graphing.

3D Snowman Bulletin Board

These delightful 3D snowmen are sure to be a big hit during the holidays and are ideal for a hallway or that special bulletin board in your classroom. Made with white butcher's paper and stuffed from behind with crumbled paper; these snowmen really stand out. Student made snowflakes against a bright blue background make a striking display. This is a great opportunity to incorporate a lesson on snowflakes.

3D Gingerbread House

This gorgeous gingerbread house is made from a cardboard box covered with brown paper and decorated with simple dye cut circles of brightly colored paper to resemble candy. Mounted on a bulletin board it makes a dramatic statement that is sure to appeal to young and old alike. This provides an opportunity to discuss the history of gingerbread houses.
