Circuit City Announces Store Closings
Big news for the Circuit City store chain-- it has announced today that it will undergo closings of 155 locations, making up nearly 20 percent of its sites. The Circuit City Store closings have much to do with competition in the electronics market, likely primarily from retail giant Best Buy. How might this Circuit City news affect you, locally? For a Circuit City store closing list, see below.Just a mere couple of weeks ago on October 20th, the store announced it was considering the closings but had hired some assistance from outside of the company in an attempt to avoid this potentially negative outcome- -all apparently to no avail. With the closings, however, the chain will manage to avoid filing bankruptcy and remain in business.
Over 500 of the Circuit City chain stores will still remain open nationwide after these closings take place. Additionally, many loyal Circuit City consumers still have other options, such as continuing their electronics shopping with Circuit City Superstores, which will still be relatively close to many locations of the closing Circuit City stores.
Closings are expected to be completed by December 31 of this year. Whether the surviving stores will be able to withstand our state of recession and the competitive market remains to be seen, but hopefully Circuit City will continue to try to keep it's store-to-store and internet price consistency it has previously maintained, in the effort to encourage more business and keep their sense of integrity, as many of its customers rely on this for good deals and price comparison shopping.
If you're anything like me, this may not have any true immediate personal impact. Although two stores local to me in Jacksonville, Florida, are among those shutting its doors, our current state of the economy doesn't exactly have me out purchasing electronics any time soon. Perhaps myself and Circuit City will see the onset of better days, after tomorrow's presidential election? So, registered voter citizens, make sure you get out and vote by tomorrow! Do it for your country, do it for yourself, and for God's sake, do it for Circuit City.

Will Circuit City Extended Warranties Still Be Good On Televsions, just because i experiment some issues with my TV, and i want to know, what can i do to resolve my issue
I am starting wonder what companies are filing for bankruptcy, because it seems like everyone is. Thanks for the store info.

Here is my biggest gripe about CC. I always liked shopping there for PC parts and other electronics, and about half of the staff were helpful. I tried to get them to ad match a hard drive for a laptop. Long story short, they would not match it because there drive model # had an extra letter added at the end. It was the exact same drive, exact same size, exact brand as the competitor, and they acknowledged that at the store, but they were afraid that some genius in corporate would notice the match and they would get in trouble. I really feel bad for those that may lose their jobs, but these high paid CEO's should let there employees make some decisions as well.

do cc employees stand around like postal employees ignoring customers and treating them with a snotty attitude?? 3/4's of postal employees couldn't hold a sales job for 1 day.
That person a few comments down was right-- any of you happy for the potential misery of others ARE nasty humans. And if you think any of us are nasty just for saying so, you're EXTRA nasty. We can say a happy farewell to CC and it's no skin off my nose, but if you don't care how it adversely affects any good, innocent, or hard working people... that's one definition of "nasty" right there, don't you think?

The Circuit City in Thousand Oaks, CA. I bought a start engine device for my wifes car and it included free installation. Like I have read I was at the installers mercy. I have a full time job at the Post Office as a carrier and was willing to take a day off to get it installed. I asked to have it scheduled and he said they didn't take appointments. He told me to come in at 8 a.m. and try to get it done. I did that and all of a sudden he said he had too many cars ahead of me. They had been scheduled. I gave up (or better said "Went Postal" and took my business to the Circiut City in Oxnard which is like 20 miles away and they scheduled me the next day and I was on my way. So to see this store which is never busy shut down is like new space to build something new and worthwhile to go to. Yeah people will lose their jobs but others will gain some when they tear that place down.
