My family and I decided to try something different in terms of treating ourselves to fast food recently, so we went to a local Popeyes Chicken and Biscuit, since we had a taste for traditional Southern food.

We arrived at the Popeyes Chicken and Biscuit place nearest to where we lived at a relatively early time, just about the time you would expect them to have just prepared a fresh batch of chicken.

Ha!

We went up to the drive-thru window to place our order and here is our response:

"Sorry, we don't have any chicken, except for drumsticks and thighs".

Okay, maybe I'm naive, but exactly how does a chicken restaurant that mostly serves chicken run out of chicken? This wasn't even at the height of the day and there was only one other customer going through the drive-thru other than us. They gave us the impression that there were no other pieces of chicken available, not even saying that they'd have breasts or wings available later on, etc., something any KFC would have readily done. What kind of poor planning can their management be doing to run out of the very thing they're supposed to be selling?

We don't often go to a Popeyes, so when we ordered a three piece dinner, we expected a lot more than what came with it. At KFC, a dinner includes not only a biscuit or two, but at least 2 side orders. Imagine our dismay when we got home and, upon opening our chicken boxes, seeing only the chicken and a biscuit. The side order we did get- the Cajun rice- we had to pay extra money for.

The chicken looked, frankly, as though it were burned slightly and the pieces were very shriveled, in comparison from you'd get at a KFC. We requested "spicy" chicken, yet you could barely taste anything resembling spiciness at all in this chicken. The Cajun rice was just so-so and about the only thing that tasted up to muster was the biscuit, which was flaky and nice and buttery.

For them to label something as a "dinner" that merely consists of chicken pieces and a biscuit is ridiculous.
