Bakugan is a Japanese anime series. It is also an action game that uses cards called Gate Cards. There are also balls that transform into characters. The balls are spring open on impact (there's springs inside) and transform.

A 12 year old boy named Dan is the main character. Dan and his friends discover a deck of cards and realize that these are no ordinary cards. Soon Dan and his friends are battling monsters in a parallel universe called Vestroia in order to save Earth.
