Anti-Climatic Wait on Election Day in Long Pond, Pennsylvania

Election Day Should Be Entertaining

Blakeslee, Pennsylvania -- Election Day started at 7 a.m. in the small area of Tunkhannock Township, which happens to not be so small after all. There were over 4,000 registered voters for this township according to the Pocono

Record newspaper on Sunday. My election day however did not start until 9 a.m. eastern after I had dropped my oldest son off at the bus stop. Questions on the way to the bus stop ensued about who I was voting for as my oldest son wanted to know what ticket Paul Kanjorski was on so he could vote that way in the election that would be held in his classroom. Kanjorski happens to be on the same ticket as Barack Obama them both being democratic nominees. This conversation was short although my son wanted to know if Daddy was really voting for John McCain. I proceeded to tell my son that I was unsure but that Daddy was definitely voting today and that his vote was private.

After the bus stop my youngest son and I started to head out to the voting polls. My youngest son is 5 and since at the last election I spent 3 hours in line I came prepared this time. I had a tote bag filled with Capri sun, cheese crackers, matchbox cars, a book, notebook, pen and a camera. Enough to keep us occupied for as long as the wait may be. The first wait we encountered happened on the way to the election booths. We had to stop for turkeys crossing the road. This took about 10 minutes for all 25 turkeys to make there way across the road.

Once the turkeys made it safely to the other side of the road we got on our way. The polls happen to be about 10 minutes from my home. There was a line of cars down the road and a few people walking back to their cars. Rolling down the window I asked how long the line was. The lady said 2 hours. Good, I was prepared for a long wait to make sure my vote counted.

Nice report. Title? Ah... I think you meant anti-climactic; climatic relates to climate.
