The First Kiss: Break the Ice with Fun Kissing Games

Creative Ways to Get a First Kiss

Dating can be nerve-wracking, and thoughts of 'the first kiss' can make it more so. There are fun kissing games that can help eliminate tension and ease a shy couple into sharing their first kiss.

In each of the following, you, the reader, is assumed to be the initiator of the kiss. The object or target of the kiss is referred to as the
 'recipient'.

Human Checkers

The initiator of Human Checkers asks the recipient to play. Once the recipient agrees, the initiator has the recipient move to one corner of the room. If the recipient has questions about how to play, the initiator assures the recipient the game is easy to learn as you go. The initiator then moves to the opposite side of the room, and asks the recipient if they are ready to play. The initiator indicates that he or she (the initiator) gets to move first.

The initiator's first move is to cross the room in order to stand immediately in front of the recipient. The initiator then wraps their arms around the recipient, smiles as they position their face and mouth for a kiss and says, "Your move."

Tip: This works best if you are sure your date is willing to kiss you and is only in need of reassurance it is ok with you.

Warning: Some people might feel pressured by this bold move and not want to make the initiator feel rejected - leaving both feeling very awkward and uncomfortable. It is not worth risking a good relationship over pressure for a first kiss.

Want Some Gum?

Since some people take an offer for gum as a 'hint' kissing will follow, this game serves multiple purposes: fresh breath, a preparatory hint, and the first step in eliciting a kiss.

Ask the recipient if they would like some gum. Be sure to say 'some' gum, not 'a piece' or a 'stick' of gum. When they accept, take out a stick of gum, unwrap it, place it halfway in your mouth, so the other half is outside of your mouth. Hold the gum in place with your teeth as you tell the recipient, "Come and get it".

Tip: This game works best with stick gum like Wrigley's.
