Grant writing is a key component of the non-for-profit organization. It is during a grant writing session that many founders are forced to come face to face with the very essentials of the non-for-profit organizations. When preparing to research available grants, founders should be prepared to present documents such as a clear mission statement, budget and financial reports, information regarding professional and educational background of the Board of Directors, a detailed outline of the proposed use of funding and, in most cases, the methods by which the non-for-profit will gauge success in achieving those funding uses. Because grant approval processes are competitive and crucial to the overall success of a non-for-profit organization, many founders will turn to specialized Grant Writers in an effort to obtain the first few approved grants.
