Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger took the oath of office today, officially beginning his second term. He took the oath of office after laying his hand on an 1878 Schwarzenegger family Bible in front of about 3,000 guests at Sacramento's historic Memorial Auditorium.

The Republican governor repeatedly called for a move beyond partisanship and even bipartisanship to ``post-partisanship'' and work together to benefit the only group that matters: the people. He declared that 'centrist does not mean weak. It does not mean watered down or warmed over,'' he said. ``It means well-balanced and well-grounded. The American people are instinctively centrist so should be our government.''

Arnold Schwarzenegger became the 38th Governor of California on November 17, 2003. In a landslide victory win into office, he was quick to implement his agenda for the state and people. As the state's chief executive, he set about his mandate to bring jobs to Californians. He also came up with solutions to the state's unprecedented fiscal crisis with measures that refinanced old debt without raising taxes.

He became governor after years of success both in business and entertainment. He fast rose to popularity and bringing to his priority issues he felt would further economic growth for the state. Projects like Oceans Action Plan set a national standard for the management of ocean and coastal resources while the California's Hydrogen Highway supports a clean hydrogen transportation economy.

Gov. Schwarzenegger begins his second term recovering from an accident his suffered while on holiday with his family in Idaho. He and his wife Maria Shriver have four children Katherine, Christina, Patrick and Christopher. Being a father of four children, he pushed forward issues that benefit the children of California. In 2002, he successfully implemented the After School Education and Safety Act of 2002 (Proposition 49), which was met with overwhelmingly backing by voters.
