The Most Dangerous Cult: Beware of Pink

If David Koresh was alive and I met him somewhere and he asked me out, I'd go. He was a good looking guy. I'd probably feel a definite attraction to him and might even continue to date him. I might even wind up sleeping with him and having a relationship. But as lousy as I am about picking men, I think I might have ended the relationship the minute he tried to get me to join his cult. At first, I might not get the fact that I was being sucked into a cult, but the minute he would start giving attention to other women, I'd get out of there. He should have met me before his first wife. I would have kicked his ass good and hard, turned the other women against him, sought diabolical revenge and maybe all those poor people in Waco wouldn't have been murdered by the FBI.
David Koresh was a good looking guy. I could see why he could get people to follow him. But how do these other guys get people to follow them into their cults? How did Jim Jones get all those poor, sad, souls to drink poisoned Kool-aid, to the point of killing their own children? He wasn't even halfway decent looking. And what about the guy who convinced everyone to don their gym shoes and kill themselves at the arrival of the comet Halle Bop?
Charles Manson was downright scary looking. Yet he managed to get all those women, and a few men, to not only follow him, but commit murderous acts of atrocity so horrible that they are still talked about today. And he was really short, too. Then, to make it worse, the girls even shaved their heads when he did and carved swastikas into their foreheads!
The Jehovah Witnesses are a cult. They can't get into our building because the lock Nazi has the doors locked all the time. So what do they do? Today I got a letter in the mail, a hand-written letter from a local woman, trying to convert me to become part of her cult. A cult that demands its members give up things like birthdays and Christmas (gee, I wonder why? Here's why - it's to drive a wedge between the cult members and their families so that the cult means everything to them). I am half tempted to get a set of cheap rosary beads and send them to this woman and ask her to convert to Catholicism.
