First Night

It is my first night with my new roommates in a new town. Well that's not totally true - one of the guys I lived with before when I did my internship. It is a new city though and a new start. The guys decided to throw this big party for me. Seems it is a tradition. When someone new gets hired (we all work together) they use it as a reason to throw a party. It's a good party, not too many guys - my roommates John and Jim - plus a couple of their friends, and a lot of beautiful women. For some reason this little hottie has been looking at me and talking to me on and off all night. Robin is her name. One of the guys here is her ex from what I understand. She is only 19 and he's 26 or 27 and still has a lot of feelings toward her. I have been told in no uncertain terms that she is off limits, that this Joe, the ex, doesn't want anyone messing with her. Supposedly he is a little overprotective. I go to talk to him about it - to kinda get his ok to do a little more than talk to her. As soon as I get "Joe, hey, I've met this girl over there named Robin..." out of my mouth he gives me a death stare and my boys are giving the universal stop sign of doing a cutting motion across their necks. Ok, I get it. "I understand she's your ex. Nice girl. What happened?"
He gives me the long and short of it. Joe wants to be freed up to pursue this girl Kelly even though he has no shot with her (she's gay but hot gay). So he uses Robin as his back up. Alright then. I decide there are other fish in the sea and it would not be cool to start making enemies my first day in town. I walk around the party getting to know a lot of the people there. I find my new boss and start a conversation with her. I find out much to my dismay that a good majority of the women in the room are either gay (my new boss is - she, a little too freely admits) or bisexual exploring only the female side of the bi right now. That basically leaves Robin, her friend and John's soon to be wife. Slim pickin's.
