of dog that will not cause discomfort or allergic reactions. There are quite a number of hypoallergenic dogs from which the Obamas could choose. Here are the top hypoallergenic dog candidates that the Obama family should look at before they make a final selection on which ones should move into the White House.

The Obamas have also said they would like to adopt a dog from a shelter. There are rescue organizations and shelters which house purebreds and mixed breeds, like the ones ranked below.

For the record, a hypoallergenic dog will only offer dog allergy sufferers a lessened allergic reaction. No dog breed is 100 percent non-allergic. Hypoallergenic dogs have low dander levels.

The best way for the Obamas to find the right hypoallergenic dog is to visit the a couple of different breeds of dogs which are known to be hypoallergenic. Each dog allergy sufferer has a different level of tolerance for different types of dogs. Malia can spend time with the different dogs to see which ones have the least adverse affects on her.

#1 Cockapoo

One sweet hypoallergenic dog for the Obamas is the Cockapoo. The Cockapoo is a Cocker Spaniel/Poodle Hybrid which has the hypoallergenic low-dander qualities of poodles, but the playful nature of the American Cocker Spaniel. The Cockapoo, sometimes called the Cockerpoo, Cockerdoodle or the Spoodle is a good choice for families with children.

Because behavior may also be a consideration for Obama family, the hypoallergenic Cockapoo breed is also a good choice, as it is easily trained.

#2 Goldendoodle

Another hypoallergenic dog breed mix the Obamas may consider is the Goldendoodle. More than just a fun name to say, the Goldendoodle has the hypoallergenic qualities of the poodle, with their light shedding dog coats.

This hypoallergenic dog breed mix is also part Golden Retriever, one of the most popular dogs in the United States.

Hey what about the schnauzer!?! I've had 2 of them and both my son and I have allergies. They are smart, loving and protective of their family unit! Great dogs!
