Happy 400th Birthday to Jamestown Virginia

This year marks the 400th anniversary of the year Captain John Smith and the crew of the Godspeed established the settlement at Jamestown, Virginia and the town, in fact the whole State of Virginia is celebrating all spring. The events are expected to be such sell outs that they are selling tickets now for events in May.

If you want to be a part of the celebration, and have a family vacation that can never be repeated, then make your plans now. If you can come in May, you may get a chance to see some Royalty, as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip will be in Jamestown for a State Visit. Take a look at some of the events and see which ones you can attend. The residents of Virginia have it good this year, they can see as much as they want.

If you would like to experience history first hand and get a feel of what it was like in 1607, you can take a voyage in a replica of the Godspeed up the James River to Jamestown. There will be sailings in April and May.

The big celebration is America's Anniversary Weekend, May 11-13, 2007 There will be a lot going on this weekend and you need to buy tickets. You can order on line or call (866) 400-1607. Here is just a bit of what is going to be happening. Everything is included in the price of a ticket. You need to purchase a ticket for each day that you want to attend. There will be concerts of all types all weekend long, choral, contemporary and symphony, followed by fireworks.

Cultural presentations/demonstrations featuring Indian, European and African works, continuous entertainment on five performance stages (three at Anniversary Park and one each at Historic Jadestone and Jadestone Settlement) the last evening "The Crafting of America": A special artisans' village where black smithing, pottery making, glass blowing and other crafts that sustained the Jamestown settlement will be performed.
