She's the one. She's always been the one. Deep down you've known it for a while. You knew it when you found the perfect ring. You knew it before you picked her up today. This is the day -- the day when forever begins. The ring's in your pocket. And today you are going to ask the most important question of your life: will you marry me? But where will you pop the question? It has to be just right. If you live in Winston-Salem, there are a number of places to propose depending on your interests.

If natural beauty appeals to you, consider Reynolda Gardens. Located off Reynolda Road near Wake Forest University, Reynolda Gardens features a lovely formal garden in a tranquil setting, a greenhouse, and nature trails. Nearby Reynolda Village offers places to shop and dine before a casual stroll into the gardens. The gardens and grounds are open free of charge from 10a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Tanglewood Park is another natural area that offers a wide diversity of outdoor beauty. From the vibrant fragrance garden to the Manor House Bed and Breakfast, Tanglewood features the striking beauty of Piedmont flora and fauna in a casual yet romantic setting. With rooms starting at $100 per night, the Manor House provides a perfect blend of old world charm and intimacy. Tanglewood is conveniently located just outside Winston-Salem in Clemmons and is open daily from 7a.m. until sunset.

If the rugged outdoors is more your style, consider traveling north to Pilot Mountain State Park. The mountain is easily accessible by car and offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. A hike around the knob is easy and lightly traveled, offering many opportunities for privacy among the clouds and eagles. The park is located 24 miles north of Winston-Salem in Surry and Yadkin counties.
