Product Review of the V-Tech Winnie the Pooh Teach 'n Lights Phone and the LeapFrog See & Learn Driver

For children from 18 months to 3 years of age, the V-Tech Winnie the Pooh Teach 'n Lights Phone is a great toy for cognitive development. The toy resembles a telephone, has buttons for numbers 0-9, and buttons for different colors and shapes.

It can be played with in "learn it" mode, where pressing each button will stateit's number, color, or
 shape

It can also be played with in "find it" mode, where the child is asked to findthe button of each number, color, or shape.

This toy allows children to develop symbolic thought or mental combinations, as they can associate the sounds of the toy with each button. Between about 24-30 months of age, the child can learn to speak the sounds that resemble the different numbers, shapes, or colors. Although this toy provides a limited number of colors and shapes, it can be a great starter toy for children this age.

Another great toy for cognitive development of children this age (18 months to 3 years) is the LeapFrog See & Learn Driver, which resembles a steering wheel and key. As the child turns the steering wheel, an animated screen will resemble different letters, numbers and pictures depending on the position of the key. Each symbol presented is accompanied with the sound of its name. The toy also has a few extra buttons which play various songs and animations.

This toy, as the previous toy, also allows children to develop symbolic thought; the child can associate the sounds of each letter, number or picture with the animation on the screen. By about 24-36 months of age, the child can learn to recognize and speak the entire alphabet, the numbers 1-10, and the names of various common objects.
