Newlyweds

The couple is going on their three year wedding anniversary. They are still discovering their relationship and learning to appreciate each other.

"Did you check the mail?" Said the wife.

"Yeah." Her husband replied slyly. "So."

"We got mail."

"What? What did we get?"

"Um, uh, lots of ads and some other stuff." He looks at her with a halfway smile, holding back what she wants to know.

"Honey, Did I get my damn check or not?"

"What check? The check that came is half mine. Remember, we are married."

"Smart-ass. Just give it to me. You are always playing these goofy tricks on people or is it just me." She then reaches for the stack of mail that her husband has hoarded from her.

"Bill...Bill...Bill...Ad, throw that away...Bill...We have just too many bills."

"You're telling me. I'm the one who has to work and pay them. You just get to go to school."

"Well, you can look at it this way. Your investment into my education is one of the most profitable ones that you can have. It's more than your stocks, CD's, IRA's, or your real-estate investments. Not only will you have a smart wife, but one that makes a great living. Plus, if you ever get sued, I'll give you a discounted rate for defending you in court."

"Discounted. Are you retarded? I'll have over One-hundred-thousand dollars in your education. And you're going to try and charge me to represent me. That is really messed up."

"See it's not so funny when you're the pun of the joke is it. Here's my check." She rips it open with a thrust, anticipating the shopping. "They shorted me by twelve-hundred dollars."

Her husband reveals the second check from behind his back.

"You know better than to play around with me when it comes to money."

"Yeah that is the funniest thing because most of the time your talking about my money...That's why I do it. I think that you're absolutely gorgeous when you're all frazzled." He shoots her an intense stare from across the room. A glance that she generally catches only in their bedroom. He slowly strides across the room to her. He lifts her chin like an infant to his. Then slowly presses his lips against hers. He whispers to her, "I love you."
