Free Activities for Your Preschooler in the Simi Valley Area

With many families experiencing the tight budget of the economic crisis many are looking for fun but free activities for their Preschoolers. One can only take their children to the park so often before both parents and children become bored so here are a few alternative options to liven up the week for your children.

First 5 of California offers a variety of free classes to parents in Simi Valley and Moorpark. First 5 of Simi Valley and Moorpark works to offer courses in both cities and you can attend classes in either city. Some courses that are offered are music courses, Mommy and Me classes, Me and My Daddy classes and much more. All classes are free to residents of Simi Valley and Moorpark. First 5 also offers a Kids Club at the Simi Valley Town Center. Kids Club is scheduled for every Wednesday from 10AM to 11AM at the food court near Macys Men's and Home store. In bad weather the activities are moved to the Conference room above the Guest Services office. Activities include crafts, musical entertainment, shows and much, much more. All activities are free to the public.

The Simi Valley library offers free Preschool Storytimes on Tuesday mornings at 11:30 AM in the Kids Section, Story Area. Kids will sit and listen to a story as told by one of the library staff. Stories are fun and entertaining for the children and provide a wonderful free activity for all. Also provided by the Simi Valley library is Family Storytimes on Tuesday evenings at 7:00PM and on Saturday mornings at 11:00AM in the Story Area.

To spice up routine park play you can add games and activities to your park visits. An activity great for the fall season is a Nature Scavenger hunt. Make a list of fall plants found in the area and search the park for the plants to collect. Once the children collect all the plants on your list you can put them in a box to store or leave them in the park. This activity allows for a bit of variety in your routine park visits. You can alter this activity to fit any season of the year.
