Reviewing Organic Lip Balm

Although I usually love Kiss My Face's line of organic products, I've found that the lip balm is not up to their usual standards. Don't get me wrong, there are some good aspects to it, but an overall analysis of its effectiveness leaves something to be desired. So before you buy their organic lip balms, consider a candid review.

First, I'd like to start with the 'good' side of buying this organic product. The number one reason is that it is organic, and not tested on animals. It contains a sunscreen, with an spf of 15, which is lacking in most lip balms out there. Although this is kind of trite, I love the design of these little tubes as well. The plastic is sturdy and won't crack even if it is placed in an over-loaded purse. But the best part of the design is that the 'twister' that helps you advance the lip balm up as you wear it down is on the top rather than the bottom. This 'twister' is thicker than usual and makes the lip balm packaging very desirable for those that like uniquely designed products.

I must also admit that the scents are fantastic. With aromas like honey vanilla, strawberry, sliced peach, cranberry orange, and ginger mango, how could you go wrong? They are not the horrid imitation scents, but clean and 'natural' smelling. They do not however taste like they smell, so it would be best not to attempt to lick them off; this would also defeat the purpose of wearing lip balm.

But with all of these promising features, this lip balm has little effect as a lip moisturizer. When you first buy it, the texture is very smooth and goes on evenly. But it seems to only glaze your lips, and doesn't work like a chapstick. The scents are pleasant enough, yet without a moisturizing purpose it serves the wearer no good. When the lip balm ages about 4-5 months it starts to harden. The application is harder; you have to really push and it doesn't seem like the consistency is like organic beeswax anymore. It nearly becomes a solid that doesn't adhere to your lips.
