How to Write a Thanksgiving Poem

Great for Kids

5
This Thanksgiving poem is written in the hopes that students can follow this as a sample poem so that they can create their own. It is writen in the style of Name Poems. When writing Name Poems you use your name or any one else's. You spell out the name horizontally. You use each letter of the name to begin a new sentence. You also try to make your poem rhyme. Instead of using a person's name, in this poem, I am using the word Thanksgiving. My first word will start out with the letter "T" since that is the first word in Thanksgiving. As you will read this poem, you will see how each letter in the word Thanksgiving will make a sentence. Now see if you can make your own Thanksgiving poem and give it to your teacher or professor. Who knows, you migt get an "A" on it.

'Tis wonderful to celebrate Thanksgiving, the most wonderful day of the year.

Helps me remember wonderful memories, the thoughts bring a tear.

Allows me to present the events of the year, to share with my peer.

Never mind the negative things, these are past and brings a sting.

Knowledge is gratifying, I'm thankful for school, another way of learning, another tool.

Sharing dinner with my family and friends, wishing this occasion would never end.

God has blessed my family and me, with a healthy year, and let it be.

I'm happy to have such wonderful friends we've fought, we've argued, we've made amends.

Voting day made me happy, able to vote, my friends and me.

Isn't it wonderful to live in the U.S., the freedom and liberty that we possess.

Never, never will I complain, because I'm such a liucky dame.

God gives me happiness on this wonderful day of bliss
