Although hot cocoa can be enjoyed anytime, wintertime is the perfect time to take pleasure in this rich, delicious, chocolaty drink. Hershey's has developed a new line of instant hot cocoa known as Cacao Reserve, and it has become one of my favorite hot drinks. It's labeled as an Aztec blend of mildly spiced chocolate, and if you or members of your family enjoy an occasional cup of hot chocolate, you should definitely give it a try.

I recently received four boxes of Hershey's Cacao Reserve as part of a promotional package offered by the Hershey's company. It was offered to a select group of people interested in hosting a Cacao Reserve party, and the box I received weighed an amazing fifteen pounds! It included many different varieties of chocolate bars and tins of chocolate truffles as well as the instant hot cocoa.

Before receiving the box of chocolates that was generously provided by Hershey's, I hadn't thought much about the history of chocolate or the amazing health benefits it provides. I've always loved high-quality chocolate, and receiving the box from Hershey's was a learning experience as well as a tasty treat. Hershey's Cacao Reserve Drinking Cocoa impelled my interest in chocolate more than ever before, and the following is some of what I learned about chocolate as well as my opinion of this unique new drink.

The History of Cocoa

Did you know that cocoa has been in existence for centuries, but was once only available to the wealthy? The ancient Aztecs believed that cocoa was a drink that instilled great strength and wisdom, and it was enjoyed for its zesty rich flavor. The ancient Aztecs called it xocoatl, and although it contained ground cocoa beans, it was very different than the drink we currently know as hot cocoa.

Sooo, does the label share the percentage of cacao in each serving? 70%+ is the 'healthy' level you know. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! Ha Ha Ha
