Psychology is a very broad scientific study. The field of Psychology opens many windows of opportunity in various careers and professions. Individuals with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology have a plethora of career options such as Research, Forensic Psychology, Objective Testing or even a Clinical Director of a mental health clinic. Although you may enjoy the study of human behavior and thought processes greatly does that mean you're destined to be a Psychologist? Consider the following points before you decide to major in Psychology or pursue a Psychology degree. The next seven points will help prepare you for the future career of your choice as well as maintain employment along the way.

#1 Volunteer your time.

Many individuals that major in Psychology often go on to work in careers that require direct client interaction. Do you like working with people? Do you mind helping others at the expense of your own welfare? In the event you are trying to figure what branch of Psychology is good it for you, it is in your best interest to consider volunteering. Think about volunteering in the area you think you want to seek a career whether it is at a homeless shelter, food pantry, hospital, crisis center or a school. Volunteering will you paint a real picture of what type of Psychology career you are most comfortable and able to achieve personal fulfillment.

#2 Select a Minor that is Marketable.

Unfortunately, having a BA in Psychology is not sufficient to become a clinician or complete research. For this reason, I suggest selecting a minor of study that is marketable such as Business Administration, Mathematics, or a Foreign Language. There are many jobs available to those that hold a BS in Psychology however you have to consider what will make your resume or vita stand out from the rest. More importantly select a minor that you enjoy. Do not select a minor that you completely despise. In the event you are going to graduate school this minor will assist you in the interim.

#3 Become a Research Assistant
