Homemade Pumpkin Pie Recipe from Scratch
Spice Up Your Holiday Dinner This Year!
No Thanksgiving dinner is complete until you bite into that freshly baked slice of homemade Pumpkin pie. Here you will find a delicious homemade Pumpkin pie recipe that your friends and family will simply rave over.WHAT YOU NEED:
1 Blender
1 Hand Mixer
9" Pie Pan
1 Pie Pumpkin approx. 8" (if you are not familiar with the difference between Halloween pumpkins and pie pupkins ask your produce person at the grocery store they can assist you)
18oz Evaporated Milk (1 & ½ cans)
1 cup Sugar
1 Tsp Ground Cloves
½ Tsp Ground Ginger
1 Tsp Ground Allspice
1 ½ Tsp Ground Cinnamon
4 Large Eggs
1 Pie Crust
DIRECTIONS:
•Remove the stem of your pumpkin and then wash the outside of your pumpkin with plain water and dry off.
• Next, using a long serrated knife starting from the top center cut your pumpkin in half. Once they have been halved scrape out all seeds and stringy pumpkin pieces from center of halves.
• Place halves in pan or microwave safe bowl(you may need to cut to fit just keep pieces fairly large) and add approx. 2 inches of water. Cover and cook for 20 to 30 minutes on high. Checking after 15 minutes and until soft.
• Once soft and cooked remove pumpkin from its skin using a tablespoon (Often it will simply peel off in your fingers)
• After skin has been removed puree pumpkin pieces with a blender until satiny smooth consistency.
• At this point begin preheating over to 425* F.
• In large bowl mix pumpkin puree (approx. 3 cups);sugar; cinnamon; allspice; ginger; cloves; evaporated milk and eggs together until well blended with a hand mixer. Pour into pie pan lined with pie crust (approx. ½ inch from top of crust.
• Put in preheated 425*F oven and bake for 15 minutes then reduce heat to 350*F and bake an additional 45 minutes to hour. After reducing heat check pie after about 45 minutes is done when you can insert a knife and it comes out clean.
• Let cool then top with your favorite topping and enjoy!
