I'm not very good at making long speeches, so I'll be brief. I hail from "Oldschool-Gamingville", a place where people like to get their kicks from indulging in the games of yesteryear that we all knew an loved. When I say "yesteryear", I'm talking about the NES, Sega Genesis (and Sega CD), Super Nintendo, and even the Playstation (to some extent). Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a jaded gamer that can't get with the times here. I'm a proud owner of the PS2, Xbox 360, and Wii systems and they're all swell systems! But there's a certain inner youthful gamer in me that just can't forget about those golden years when I had nothing but time on my hands to save the princess in that "other" castle, or stop Dr. Robotnik's nefarious plan once and for all time (for real this time).

So with that, I've taken great joy in writing reviews on those games from years past. I consider it my civic duty to play a [small] part in keeping the memories of such games alive in the minds of both veteran gamers and the fresh-from-GameStop-with-my-first-system bright-eyed whipper snapper. And don't worry-- I will keep my criticisms fair and the personal opinions to a bare minimum, so as to make reading my reviews actually enjoyable [I hope]. If you want to contact me with any questions about old school games or systems, feel free to either click the "contact" tab at the top of the article or leave your question/comment in the "comments " section.

So keep an eye out for my first review in the days to come. Until then, stay tuned and power up that old game system of your's now and then...if you've still got one :-)

Game on, folks!

handheld, if you call 30 pounds handhelp. :P It was taken off the market because people keep getting water inside and they'd explode..or so I heard.

I got started on the NES in the late 80's, but there was a time in 1992 when we didn't have any game console at all. So a friend felt pity for us and let us borrow her Atari 7800. Thanks to that system, I was able to get to know game developers like Namco with games like Pole Position II, MS. Pac-Man, Galaga, and Xevious. So I suppose you could say that I do go back as far as the Atari system too. I've never played on the Vectrex system, but I've read up on it many times before. It was arguably the very first handheld gaming system ever.

Careful, Question Everything says everyone rocks. lol How far back do you go? I started out with a Vectrex system. Ever plaed on it? It's before NES with a builtin monitor, vector line graphics and screen overlays. On the 80s show, Mr. Wizard, he had one on his desk.

You rock! My boyfriend just hooked up the original Nintendo system for me. : )

You're right...there's nothing wrong with the original Nintendo! I have a Super Nintendo that I barely get to use anymore, but maybe now I will, if you're recommending games!

As you know, I have been thrust into the video game world myself. As a kid, I was all about nintendo, then something happened around puberty and all was lost. But my fiance is diligently trying to rekindle that tiny ember. He's getting there with the WII, love the bowling. Great introduction.

The best part of the old-school games is that they also come with all those great memories.... "Dude, remember that time I had chicken pox and played Mega Man for like 48 hours straight?" or showing "punks" who's boss in Double Dragon... ah, those were the days lol

Oooh! Does this mean Frogger? Looking forward to your reviews :)

Just played through Super Mario World again a few months back. I'm currently playing Final Fantasy 7 (I'm assuming that makes your playstation classic list). Anyway, great to see someone on here talking about the greats. There are some newer games that I love, but for the most part, they're crap. They have GREAT graphics, but not much in the way of FUN. I do love my Wii though!

Nice! I'm of your ilk. I still have my SNES hooked up to my TV (as well as two other in boxes in the closet along with their older brothers, two NESs). I'm a collector, and a lot of my gaming stuff is old. I love it! Yay for us oldschool gamers! Oh, and I have the new stuff too. Wii unite!
