You Think You Know Him, You Have Absolutely No Idea: American Idol Judge, Randy Jackson

Do you know that American Idol Judge, Randy Jackson, is nominated for 2 Grammys at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards in February? Do you know that Randy was an A& R {Artist and Repertoire} guy for 15 years? Do you know that Randy considers himself "the voice of reason" when compared to "go for the jugular vein" judge, Simon Cowell, and "let 'em down easy" judge, Paula Abdul. AssociatedContent.com listens in as Randy Jackson shares his thoughts on American Idol as it gears up for its 6th season:

AssociatedContent.com: Hey, Randy!

Randy Jackson (American Idol): What's happening?

AssociatedContent.com: Is there a front runner in American Idol, season 6?

Randy Jackson (American Idol): Simon and I have been saying it's more like season 1. I think it's going to be somebody that really grows during the competition.

AssociatedContent.com: What surprises does season 6 of American Idol have in store for its
viewers?

Randy Jackson (American Idol): You know we have a few things that we change. But I
think, you know, the formula is pretty much what it is. I mean you'll see a couple of wrinkles,
here and there, but I, of course, can't tell you what they are.

AssociatedContent.com: Who are your favorites of all the American Idol contestants?

Randy Jackson (American Idol): My 2 favorites probably hands down are Kelly Clarkson
and Fantasia. Those two girls' voices are just amazing.

AssociatedContent.com: Are there any songs that you are tired of hearing during the audition
process?

Randy Jackson (American Idol): There's a lot of songs we're sick to death of during the
auditions. At Last by Etta James which is an amazing song but people just butcher it. Fallin'
by Alicia Keys, people just butcher that. I have heard no one yet ever sing a Mariah Carey song
and do it justice.

AssociatedContent.com: How does it make you feel when former American Idol contestants
such as Jennifer Hudson (Co-Star, Dreamgirls) make it big?

Randy.when I heard about your plyt with diabetis, I started wondering whether or not you had been involved in the Viet namm War, like my husband. Diabetis type 2 has been connected to and with , contact with the AGENT ORANGE as a possible link to the type 2 diebetis, and passed on other effects such as muscul deformaties in offspring- into even a 2nd and third genneration. So I was contacting you to see if you were aware of this. also to see if this was also what may have caused yours. please comment

What has happened to you this season?! Nobody's in the dog pound...You've lost the joy you used to express on this show. And when you do, it's only for the folks who pull off the sound bites, not anything major. As a musician, I expect you to stand up for originality, something different. I agree Archuletta has a beautiful voice technically. So what. Who wants to buy his album/CD?! Not me...for sure...Oddly, Simon is beating you at being in touch with what's cool, new and interesting...I hate that... PLEEEZE step up to the plate...

I believe I agree that Randy is the "voice of reason". The other two are over the top sometimes. I really don't care for Paula. She is a little too dramatic for me, but Simon just says whats on his mind. I like that, but when he does the name calling, that is going a little to far.

What a joke this show has become. The judges need to weight each performance and then multiply that by the number of votes.

senjaya needs to go!! how can he beat people that can sing way better than him. when he auditioned he was good but once the show with the top 24 started he sucked. sundance could sing way better than him and he got voted out. i'm starting to think that this years american idol is all about looks and not singing. semjaya needs to go now!

They totally got Senjaya wrong - all of 'em. I'm not especially a Senjaya fan - I freaked when he won against the opponent yesterday. But Senjaya's problem was song selection. His voice has a very particular tone which lends itself to very particular tunes. (And not others) These guys are multi millionaire A & R guys and that one just went right over their heads. glakerATelementcanada.com

Love the show! Several of past & current contestants are perfect Mo-Town singers. Randy, we're ready for a Mo-Town revival - new CDs please! Even my 19 & 21 yr old daughters agree! LaKisha is amazing, but a pop CD won't sell. Broadway needs her. Hopefully American Idol can help get her there!

Love the show! You've had some amazing past & current perfect Mo-Town singers. Let's have a CD revival! The Baby-boomers & young adults would love it (my 19 & 21 yr old daughters agree). LaKisha is amazing, but a pop CD won't sell. She needs to be on Broadway. Hope y'all can help. her!

Congrats on getting an interview with Randy.

I have to agree with Carmen Isom. The title make s us think we're going to learn something new about Dawg. Kudos for getting the interview. But try again on the title. Really. you could have elaborated on the A&R part or some other aspects of Dawg we didn't know.
