A Low Fat Way to Deep Fry

George Foreman is just as well known for the line of fat reducing grilling machines as he is as a boxer. George Foreman is now presenting a kitchen gadget called the George Foreman Lean Mean Spin Frying Machine.

The George Foreman Lean Mean Spin Frying Machine works by deep frying up to a pound and a half of food and then executing a second stage in which the basket of food is lifted from the hot oil and is spun around while being cooked by convection. The enclosed fryer also allows for deep drying without the usual mess. The manufacturer claims that the George Foreman Lean Mean Spin Frying Machine reduces up to fifty five percent of the fat ordinarily absorbed by deep fried foods.

Mind, while one would like to see an independent scientific study of the George Foreman Lean Mean Spin Frying Machine, the idea of low fat deep frying seems wonderful. Fried chicken is one of the most splendid tasting foods ever created by human beings. Alas, being of a certain age and a certain cholesterol level, one has had to deny oneself the taste of succulent, fried chicken, crusty and spicy on the outside, hot and moist on the inside.

One remembers the fried chicken of one's childhood well. Mom would dredge the pieces in a combination of flour and various spices, bathe them in flower, dredge them again in Italian bread crumbs, and then deep fry them in oil. Along with French fries and either cold slaw or baked beans, Mom's fried chicken was a pleasure as great as any. Alas it is now one to be indulged in all too infrequently.

Grilled chicken is fine. Marinade some boneless and then grill them up either over a charcoal fire or on the grill pan, and grilled chicken too has its pleasures.
