Armed Assault Demo Released

The demo for the much-awaited game, Armed Assault, a tactical, first person shooter, has been released. Weighing in at roughly 800 mb, it is a hefty piece that gives only a small taste of what is to come for gamers in the United States. Available at most major gaming websites, like Fileplanet, Gamespot, and Filefront, the demo allows the player to explore a portion of the main island, Sahrani Island, and take the fight online through three multi-player missions, using several of the different types of weapons and vehicles that will appear in the full game.

Armed Assault, created by the European studio, Bohemia Interactive, is the spiritual successor to the much acclaimed Operation Flashpoint series (OFP for short). OFP, released in 2001, garnered many positive reviews, and has continued to be one of the most popular, tactical shooters available, despite its age. This is in part due to the large support and fan base that OFP has, unlike many other games that were released back then. The OFP community is one of the most active modding communities around, with mods and addons for the game being released on a near daily basis, either through the ever-popular OFP forums, or through one of the many fan sites. This dedicated group of players is not limited to just one region, as the plethora of international players will testify to.
