MyBlogLog.com is an addictive and mere 6-month-old website that allows bloggers to post their photos and information about their blogs in one community. Bloggers also use the widget available on MyBlogLog, which, after being installed on a particular site, gives bloggers a visual reminder of who has recently visited their blogs.Today, MyBlogLog.com received a big boost of confirmation when Yahoo confirmed that they did in fact purchase MyBlogLog.com - a techno-marriage long rumored to be in the works.
In a post titled "Yahoo Buys MyBlogLog. No, They Didn't. Wait, Yes," on TechCrunch, Michael Arrington described the confusion surrounding Yahoo's purchase of MyBlogLog today as reports confirming the purchase broke then were immediately pulled.
Arrington called Bradley Horowitz -- VP of Product Strategy for Yahoo -- directly and Horowitz reportedly confirmed the acquisition. "Om Malik was actually at dinner with [MyBlogLog.com] co-founder Scott Rafer, when the deal was finalized," Arrington wrote, "so it's a definite deal."
I took it upon myself to congratulate Scott Rafer today upon hearing the news, and to warn him and his Orlando, Florida-based team to call their new city of relocation - San Francisco - "The City" and not old the "Frisco" nickname.
"Thank you!" Rafter wrote me back. "And you're right, the food is great. I'm the only member of the team who was not in FL. I've lived in San Francisco since 1992."
Though Rafer confirmed his love for the cuisine in his "city by the bay," he wouldn't confirm the purchase price Yahoo paid for MyBlogLog.com. Sources close to the deal, however, say that Yahoo shelled out anywhere from $10 - $12 million for the startup.
Eric Marcoullier is another of MyBlogLog's founders. When a user joins MyBlogLog.com, Eric's friendly face shows
up automatically as their first contact.
"Who is this Eric? What's he like? What makes him tick? Why does he show up as my first contact?" writes Marcoullier in his own MyBlogLog.com profile, going on to explain that he co-founded a games site named IGN.com years ago and later got serious about video game development.
