Today's Youth's Knowledge of U.S. Government is Abysmal
Let's Take Responsibility for Our Republic!

Now in the winter of my discontent, my thoughts go to the future, if there will be one. Always have had a belief that to have a Republic to thrive takes the citizens of all kinds and stripes to take responsibility to make sure that the Republic endures. This is not happening. It would seem that if not most but at least a great minority of the citizens are caught up in the pursuit of self-gratification - whatever is easy, fun and fast so they can move on to other fun things. Should circumstances occur where discipline is required from all citizens to protect the Republic, what will happen??? I am not the least bit encouraged by the youth of today. Their knowledge of their government is abysmal. From what I have seen, the seventh grade students from the fifties and back knew more about their government than the average college graduates of today. Apparently, the colleges of today feel that American history is of so little consequence and should not be taught. They feel that students should be taught to listen, think, digest, and arrive at conclusions as long as it's the professor's conclusion, which usually is "America is BAD", and "We have done bad things thoughout our history and deserve to be punished". I am sure they would even condemn the Marshall Plan, our participation in World War I, World War II, and Korea. Our military, over the centuries, has enabled these professors to have their jobs and be able to twist history as they do.
