Jim Carey and Drew Barrymore would make a perfect couple. In fact, I am surprised that they haven't hooked up already. She did marry that ridiculous Tom Green after all, so you know she likes her men on the weird side. And Jim Carey is definitely weird, but in a good way. Jim Carey and Drew Barrymore are both funny, even down right goofy at times. And you get a sense that these two are sincere, vulnerable human beings, something you don't often find in the tough and jaded Hollywood crowd.

The perfect date I picture for them is a good old-fashioned, small town carnival, the kind that my friends and I spent weeks anticipating the arrival of every summer when I was a kid. It would set up on the square around the downtown courthouse.

Let us pretend we are invisible witnesses as we travel with Jim and Drew on their theoretical carnival date. It is a mid-summer Saturday night, the sun just setting, its hues of red and yellow kissing the edge of the earth. He picks her up in his white 1960 classic Corvette convertible. The top is down and the warm summer breeze blows through their hair as they leave the gritty streets of L.A. behind. Jim doesn't tell Drew where they are headed, just that they are going to have the time of their lives. Somehow, she believes him.

The carnival Jim has heard about is set up in a field in a small, out of the way country town far from the city lights. Drew is excited, playfully begging Jim to tell her--in- between chats about their friends, a who's who A-list conversation we are thrilled to be privy to--where in the world they are going. But he won't budge. "You'll see, just hang on!" He shouts into the night air. She laughs; that delightful laughter that we have loved for so many years.

They drive on through the darkness on the paved blacktop, but soon Drew begins to hear music that reminds her of a lullaby. The music grows louder as she sees the red, green and gold lights of the carnival in the distance. She is thrilled when she realizes where Jim is taking her. He turns onto a dirt road. "A carnival, oh...my...God; what fun!" She screams. She grabs his arm, planting a kiss on his cheek. Jim grins like a possum in the moonlight.
