The Sumter County Farmers Market, located on SR 471 in Webster, FL, attracts people from all over the world every Monday; and it is little wonder why. There are booths offering handmade crafts of all kinds, clothing, accessories, toys, games, household stuff, knick-knacks, and a whole row dedicated to fresh produce.

The produce is not only the freshest you can get but also cheaper than you will be able to get it in any grocery store. In fact, many people are so impressed with the quality and price of the produce that they do not buy their produce anywhere else. You can buy most any kind of produce you are looking for here; many of the vendors even offer samples of their fresh produce so you know exactly the quality that you are buying.

For those of you who will want lunch while visiting the market, they have you covered in that area as well. There are many carnival-type concession booths available spread out all over the market. They offer such things as hamburgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, french fries, sausages, cheese steaks, Chinese, etc. There are also two sit-down restaurants here. The largest and most popular being The Speckled Butter Bean. As its name would suggest this is good ol' fashioned southern country cooking. The most unique thing about The Speckled Butter Bean is that they offer a buffet, how many markets have you visited where you could get buffet? Oh, and for the early birds that missed breakfast, many of these concession stands and the sit-down restaurants also serve breakfast.

Also--for the ladies--the bathrooms on the market grounds are well-stocked and clean. There are attendants in all four of the markets conveniently located restrooms. The ladies work very hard keeping the restrooms clean and they do appreciate, but do not require a tip, although please at least remember to thank them.

SOME THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN PLANNING YOUR TRIP TO THE SUMTER COUNTY FARMERS MARKET

* The market is only open on Mondays. They are open every Monday rain or shine, with the exception of Christmas (only if it actually falls on a Monday)

* Plan to arrive early for the best parking

I forgot to mention the size of this flea market in my article, I did not even think about it until reading your comment; anyway, for those interested the Sumter County Farmers Market is over 40 acres. The one in Collinsville does sound very much like the one in my article. I love flea markets, I just don't have the time I would like to have to visit them.
