There are many great qualities about sports one of my favorites being the history. There's nothing better than sitting back and reminiscing on the good ole days when players worked during the off season because they didn't make millions of dollars and there were no steroid scandals. However like anywhere else these stories are often stretched and embellished and sometimes even made up. So I thought I'd inform you all on some of the sports stories that have been told over the years that aren't true.

1972 Miami Dolphins

In 1972 the Miami Dolphins became the first and only team in NFL history to go the entire year without losing a game. Legend is that the '72 Dolphins are very proud of that fact, too proud in fact. Every year when a team goes a good portion of the season undefeated the '72 Dolphins suddenly take notice. When that team finally loses the Dolphins are so proud that they are still the only undefeated team in history that they all meet up somewhere and celebrate. The story has led to the '72 Dolphins being one of the most hated teams of all time. Every year when the final undefeated team goes down I hear about how those '72 Dolphins are at home laughing and twirling their evil mustaches. But the truth is not only do the Dolphins not celebrate the loss of the final undefeated team every season, but they haven't even done it once. Nobody knows how or where the story started but all the members of the Dolphins denies that it's true and there are no eye witnesses to prove otherwise.

How long have you been a black quarterback?

Takeaways
  • The '72 Dolphins don't really celebrate when no team goes undefeated.
  • Back to the Future II did not predict the results of the World Series.
  • Fidel Castro never tried out for a Major League baseball team.
