Face it, there's nothing more romantic than something French and that includes restaurants. While New York may have one of the most diverse and extravagant restaurant scenes, the romantic atmosphere that is provided by the French is still second to none. A shining example of that is L'Absinthe, an authentic Parisian brasserie, named after the famous aperitif well appreciated by many artists at the turn of the century. The atmosphere, food, and wine combination make this one of the preeminent places in all of New York City to have a romantic dinner for two.

In order to have an atmosphere regarded as romantic, the establishment's décor has to be up to par and L'Absinthe does not disappoint in that department. The beautiful interior is completely with a zinc bar, brass for days amongst other beautiful parts that come together to provide a lush interior. Their website does a masterful job in touting its interior in an array of words that simply can't be matched: The Art Nouveau decor is subtly underscored by the authentic zinc bar, polished brass rails, and lace curtains adorning the windows. These details are highlighted by the bronze-encased crystal tulip chandeliers that contribute to the lively ambiance of the brasserie. They also reflect the bistro posters of the namesake liqueur and of its epoch in the large wooded mirrors that line the back walls of the dining room. In simplest terms, the restaurant is extraordinary and you'll find yourself marveling at the establishment just as much as the loved one seated across from you.
