Changing Icons on Your Web Browser
Embed:
So, you want to change the icon on your web browser? Well there are quite a few different ways to do that depending on which browser you have on your PC. For the Firefox default window icon, you can change it to any icon of your choice. MOZILLA FIREFOX
The first thing you should do is go to the folder in which you installed your Firefox software. Then go to the subfolder which is called chrome. Once you are in the chrome folder, you should create a new subfolder; name the new folder, icons. Open the icons folder and create another subfolder called default. The full path to this folder is C:\ProgramFiles\MozillaFirefox\chrome\icons\default\ The last thing you must do is choose the icon that you would like to use. On the windows system use .ico files, and on the Linux system use. .xpm files. Once you have chosen the right icon, then place it into the folder and rename it main-window.[ext]. For example if you were to name the folder on windows it would look like this, mainwindow.ico and on Linux it would look like, mainwindow.xpm.
Once this is completed, you should restart your Firefox software and then you should see the icon you chose in the title of your browser windows. You can also change the icon in your bookmark manager and JavaScript consoles. The icon names for these are bookmark-window.[ext] and jsconsoleWindow.[ext].
INTERNET EXPLORER
For Internet Explorer, it's a bit different when changing the icons. Every web page has its own icon that will download into the Temporary Internet folder every time you add a website to your Favorites list. Every website that you visit has its very own icon and this gets downloaded into your temp file folder.
You can get to these icons by going into the Temporary Internet Folder at: c:\DocumentsandSettings\"username"\LocalSettings\TemporaryInternetFiles\ You should turn on the "Hidden/System Files" first. In order to do this, you must open the My Computer folder, click on the Tools folder options, then click View and click "Show all files." Now your hidden files should be able to be seen.
