Pretty much every male in North America loves their gadgets, technology, computers and the like. We all love to have the latest and greatest cell phone, computer, video game console and the like. When we have disposable income, that's where it often goes. Unfortunately some of us have incomes and expenses which are very close to each other, not leaving us a lot of money to go shopping for technology. One company claims that it has the answer.

BlueHippo Funding is a company which sells consumers with very poor credit history. They feature a Blue Hippopotamus as their mascot and do a lot of marketing through television, radio and the internet. They offer things such as personal computers, flat-screen televisions, and other high technology items. Consumers pay off the loans with installment payments and the prices are very high above market standards.

Their products are very expensive compared to the market value of what you are actually getting, and you should never under any circumstances purchase a product from them, here's why. Let's look at an example. BlueHippo Funding sells Apple's Macbook Pro which retails for $1,999. BlueHippo sells the item for a down payment of $99, followed by 13 weeks of layaway payments of $49.99, and then after you pay that first $748.87, then and only then they will ship you the item and allow you to finance the difference with a secured loan, but of course they don't tell you what the interest rate is. If you were to pay the full 52 weeks of layaway payments you would have spent $2,698.48. If you were to take the financing, chances are you would be paying closer to $3,000. Why would anyone pay $3,000 for a $2,000 product? BlueHippo Funding is a rip-off!

Still not convinced? They offer a Gateway desktop which is worth about $500. They offer this gem for $35.99 per week, and the final price is nearly $2,000. That's four times the value of the product! If you were to just save up and pay for the computer you would have it done in just under 4 months! You can wait that long to order a new computer!

I was lured into a sale from blue hippo also. They took a check number from me to be deducted from my account. When I tried to cancel, they told me that I did not notify them in the 5 day required period. So I called my bank and ordered a stop payment on the check. Blue Hippo did not deduct the money from a check but thru another means of withdrawl. Now I can't even get my $$ in a refund because I have to use it as a store credit. BEWARE!
