Robert Redford, who purchased the land from the Stewart family, started the Sundance Resort in 1969. The Stewart Family at the time was operating a very small ski area around Mount Timpanogos, as well as a hamburger shop. Investors tried to convince Redford to use the property to build expensive hotels and condominiums. Redford refused to disturb the natural surroundings and its inhabitants. He wanted to use this area to conserve, not to destroy the environment. The Sundance Resort has been the result of his respect for nature. The Sundance Resort is the best there is for all who want to increase their appreciation for the arts, culture, and the human experience.
To start the rejuvenation process during your stay, you will need to make reservations for the green building, the building that houses the spa. While in one of the dimly lit, all natural wood rooms, you will be treated according to the Sioux tradition of cleansing and pampering. Your body, mind, and soul will be restored to perfect balance by the combination of the Native American tradition, completely organic products, and human hands. It is suggested that you make your reservations for the spa the same time you make your reservations for lodging.
For example, you can pamper yourself and your mate with one of five different massages. There is the Sundance Stone Massage, Four Winds Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Balancing Treatment, and Pressure Point/Reflexology. You decide which one you want to be pampered with and then relax and enjoy.
