In today's day and age, it seems like everyone is writing articles for many different reasons. On the internet, the most prevalent reason is for internet marketing. One method of driving traffic to your desired site is through article marketing (writing unique articles and submitting them to article directories in exchange for a link.)

Using articles to market your product or an affiliate product is great because it's free and relatively easy. It's also viral marketing, being that many directories allow webmasters and ezine owners to take that article and use it, as long as they keep your resource box intact. Best of all, that article will be around for years to come so you will continually drive new traffic to your website all from an article that took you about half an hour to write.

Some people love writing articles and others hate it. Whether you're an article creation lover or hater, writing articles is useless unless it actually gets read. Many inexperienced writers do not know how to write for optimum results. Needless to say, this can be very disappointing for your traffic stats.

So how do you write an article that people actually want to read? Then how do you get them over to your website?

First and most important is your title. I can't stress this enough because the title can make or break your article. Search through an article directory and take note of which articles catch your eye. These articles probably have strong titles that claim to offer you something you want to learn.

Below are some tips to help you with writing attention catching titles:

Say something shocking.
Say something controversial.
Use "How To ____".
Use "Warning, are you ______".
Use "10 Easy Steps To ______".
Appeal to the reader's emotions and desires.

Next, you want to make sure you write an article that's relevant to your title. Don't use a misleading title just because it sounds good. Anyone unfortunate enough to land on your article will be disappointed and click the back button in a second.

Takeaways
  • Learn how to write the kind of title that just begs to be clicked on!
  • Are you making these horrendous mistakes with your author resource box?
