Today the world's biggest soccer star, David Beckham, decided to make a drastic career change as he signed with the American Major League Soccer team Los Angeles Galaxy. David Beckham had played for Real Madrid in Europe.

The move that Beckham will make from Europe to America will predictably change the landscape of American soccer. Despite the game of soccer having international appeal and the number one sport of most countries throughout the world, soccer has yet to win the hearts and minds of sports fans in America. David Beckham hopes to change that image and make soccer blossom in America.

The Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team starts their schedule on April 8 in what should be one of the most watched soccer games ever played in America. The actual terms of the agreement have not yet come out but could be as high as 250 million dollars.

David Beckham is one of if not the biggest soccer star in the world and is still only 31 years old. He has appeared in glamour magazines as one of the most gorgeous people in the world according to some magazine gossip columns.

David Beckham had been with Real Madrid since 2003. Before that, he played for Manchester United. Beckham has risen to fame through his superior soccer skills and some dominating World Cup tournaments against opponents. David Beckham also starred in the movie "Bend it like Beckham" and has two soccer academies: one in London and the other in Los Angeles.

The game of soccer has risen steadily in the United States but the presence of David Beckham in American soccer is expected to speed up that process greatly as he has become an international icon. He and his wife were reported to be looking at houses in Los Angeles.

Last year, David Beckham perhaps played in his final World Cup game as he scored his final goal from around midfield against Ecuador for the only goal and the game winner of the match. In the next game against Portugal, he suffered from an ankle injury and had to be taken out of the game. He then stepped down as the captain of the team. The World Cup happens only every four years and Beckham has stated that he might not play in another World Cup match.
