St. Helens and Other Oregon Locations Where Twilight was Filmed Are Tourist Attractions

Anybody who's paid attention to what's happening in the moviemaking world knows that Hollywood doesn't make movies often directly in Hollywood anymore. In recent years, many locations in the NW United States (and in Toronto, Canada) have become the more lucrative places to film movies. While some might say that Vancouver, B.C. has become the common place where most movies and TV shows are filmed, Oregon is still one of the favorite states in the NW U.S. region to make movies. Yes, Oregon has seen ups and downs in how many high-profile movies are made in the state during a given year. Despite many well-known movies being filmed in Oregon over the last 80 years, the phenomenal popularity of the vampire movie "Twilight" will likely be its highest-profile movie filmed in the state since the days in 1974-75 when "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" filmed in the capital city of Salem.

Leave it up to the tourist industry to attach itself to the runaway box office of "Twilight" and the teen market. Even some businesses outside of Oregon are lining up special tours throughout the Oregon filming locations...for a hefty price. Well, the reason for that is because you have a chance to talk to people directly involved with the film and even have a chance to see a sneak preview of the movie before its official U.S. opening on 11/21. Add to that taking part in a recreation of a pivotal scene from the movie, and you have a worthwhile holiday gift idea for your young daughter (or, heaven forbid, young son), albeit an expensive one.

Keep in mind that the tour company doing this usually takes only a limited amount of people through the locales, so booking will be a challenge considering the popularity. At the time of this writing, the first major tour is being designed by Fan Trips, which runs Beyond Boundaries--the company actually taking people to the locales. This tour company is located in Colorado, yet isn't hesitating to charge anywhere from $600-$900 a person to see St. Helens and other nearby locations with the above-mentioned added features.
